Emotions during what is more than likely the biggest purchase you will ever make can creep in and instill fear, doubt, urgency, and other undesirable feelings. Having the right agent on your side can smooth out these bumps during negotiations and the transaction.
You will no doubt feel something during the process, however, it is important to think everything through. Replying on a knee jerk reaction will result in you feeling like a jerk. Your real estate agent should be able to provide all options for you to make an informed decision. You should also prepare yourself for the consequences of that decision and own it. Take time to analyze all parts...because you will be glad you did.
As an agent it is my job to not get wrapped up in the emotional roller coaster as well. Clients pay me to stay cool under pressure and advise accordingly.
At the same time you the buyer or seller need to be emotionally prepared for what is about to happen good or bad. Selling the house you brought your new wife too, raised children in, spent 30-40 years of your life, etc can cause a flood of emotions. Be ready and be ready to act. "Indecision kills."
Buyers have more opportunities for emotion. Finding the "perfect" home to find out there is a major issue with the foundation, lending stumbles, seller not agreeing to an inspection issue, etc.
I would say I am a far less emotional person than the next. So it is easy for myself to sit back and say "be ready", but on the same page I understand that others are far more emotional. I see both sides and appreciate both. I'm ready -MLW
