Recently I attended the Missouri Realtor Business Conference in Jefferson City, MO. I was really excited to be there as I have been before, knew what to expect, and knew what I wanted to accomplish. However, this time I was on the Board of Directors. What does this entail? It means that I am in the voting body. Decisions made by the Missouri Realtors Board of Directors effect the nearly 20,000 members. I was honored to be a part of this and to learn, grow, and be up-to-date on the latest information. Over three days the conference was filled with meetings, briefings, hearings, and educational opportunities I found a common thread that hit home for me. In addition, I was able to attend the State of the State Address! I have never had this opportunity before and found it to be really neat.
The culture of helping others and leading by example has never been greater. The Missouri Realtors promote this like no other organization and I'm proud to be one! This is the same idea I seek to accomplish in all areas of my professional and personal life. The feeling of helping someone reach a goal or finish a task is like no other. What are your goals? How can I help you? What problems are you facing currently? What questions do you have? This has been at the end of nearly all my previous blog posts...and I'm serious! The opportunity to help my clients is an honor and privilege.
This was the common theme I picked up on. Fellow Realtors helping other Realtors, Realtors helping their clients, Realtors helping their communities, the MO Realtors helping its members, etc. Meeting new colleagues, seeing old friends, and learning about each other and the challenges we face enables us to be ready to deal with any issue in the future.
So that's it. Oh wait, one more thing! Also, as a part of the discussion is a proposed constitutional amendment prohibiting sales tax on services. This will appear on the ballot this November and stop a huge tax increase on all Missourians. At least any Missourian who has ever had their hair cut, hired a CPA, hired a Realtor, had their car fixed, acquired legal counsel, was seen by a health care professional, and the list goes on! So if you sit at home and do nothing this won't really matter to you. If that is you, I doubt you vote anyway. For everyone else, this movement to stop a sales tax on services will save you tons of coin. You will see much more on this as we near November. Just remember, Vote YES to “Stop Sales Tax on Services".
